Kirkwood Fire Company

 1-21-10

Kirkwood was dispatched mutual aid to Great Bend for a fully involved trailer fire. Pumper Tanker 38 responded with manpower and Tanker 38 responded. We arrived on scene and helped extinguish the fire and then overhauled.            

1-17-10

Kirkwood was dispatched to a fire on back porch  half mile South of Exit 2. Unknown address can see it from the highway. Kirkwood was put on standby in quarters while it was investigated further. Chief 38, Chief 38A and Chief 59 responded to scene turned out to be a couch on fire on a porch. State Police were dispatched to the scene also. Fire was extinguished.

Kirkwood was dispatched to Trim Street for a 1 car rollover with hand laceration. Chief 38 A responded to the scene and Engine 38 responded but was canceled en route by State Police.

Kirkwood was dispatched to  Route 11 for a CO activation no symptoms.

Kirkwood was dispatched  to Route 81 N for a 1 car MVA with injures vehicle in the median.Engine 38 responded and the patient was removed from the vehicle. The car was towed by Studer's Body Shop.

Kirkwood was dispatched to the 81 Southbound on-ramp for a vehicle that lost its gas tank and was leaking fuel onto the ground. 38B and Engine 38 responded with assistance from the BCS. Great Bend was dispatched to assist but were canceled with our thanks when we arrived on scene.

Kirkwood was dispatched to Grange Hall Road  for a large amount of smoke in the area.

12-28-09

Kirkwood was dispatched to 1734 Rt. 11 for a possible CO problem in the residence with symptoms. Chief 38, 38A and Rescue 38 responded assisted by BVES ambulance. No CO was found in the residence.

12-8-09

Kirkwood was dispatched to mile marker #1 Rt. 81 Southbound for a tractor trailer accident with injuries and entrapment. Chief 38 responded followed by Rescue 38 and Engine 38 to extricate the passenger from the cab. We were assisted quickly by a Engine and Rescue from Great Bend and cut the whole side of the truck away to extricate the victim.

Kirkwood was dispatched mutual aid to Great Bend on a working house fire. Pumper Tanker 38 responded and assisted with manpower and shuttled water to the fire.

 8-27-09

At 12:02 p.m Kirkwood was dispatched mutual aid to Conklin for the Family Dollar was on fire. We were put on standby at our station then immediately were requested to respond. Rescue 38 responded we arrived on scene and there was heavy smoke was coming from the rear of the building. The fire was quickly contained. The fire started from a short in the exhaust fan in the ladies bathroom and spread to some bags and boxes  in the storage room.

At 10:15 Kirkwood's Water Rescue Team was requested mutual aid to Great Bend to assist with a search and possible recovery of a boat and occupants that supposedly over turned. 38A, Brush 38 with Boat 38, and Rescue 38 responded. Nothing was found.

At 18:37 Kirkwood was dispatched to Route 81 North mile marker 2 for a working car fire. 38A, Engine 38 and Rescue 38 responded and with assistance from Great Bend extinguished the fire.

At 02:29 We were dispatched to mile marker 1 Route 81 South for a large fuel spill. The call was in just over the state line in Great Bend's Fire District. Engine 38 responded and assisted with controlling the approx 150 gallons of diesel fuel that leaked from the tractor trailer saddle tanks.

At 20:08 Kirkwood was dispatched mutual aid to Conklin to a working house fire on Murphy Road. Pumper Tanker 38 responded to the scene to establish water supply and Engine 38 responded to establish a tanker fill site at Murphy's Pond.

Kirkwood was dispatched to Route 81 Southbound just South of  exit 1 for a Tractor Trailor leaking fuel from its saddle tank. Chief 38, Rescue 38 and Engine 38 responded to control the approx 70 gallons of fuel that had leaked onto the ground.

At 14:57  Kirkwood was dispatched for multiple flooded roadways. Chief 38, Chief 38A, Brush 38, Tanker 38 and Engine 38 shut down the north end of main street and NY Route 11 because of water across the roadways.

At 18:06 we were dispatched to Conklin Road at Cedarhurst Road for a truck vs motorcycle MVA with injuries. Chief 38, Chief 38A, Chief 38B, Engine 38 and Rescue 38 responded to assist Conklin Fire.

At 12:04 Kirkwood was dispatched to 757 Trim Street mutual aid to West Windsor on a large brush fire. Pumper Tanker 38 and Brush 38 responded and assisted with extinguishing the fire.

At 16:32 we were dispatched to 1491 NY Route 11 for a 2 car MVA 1 car into the side of a building. Chief 38A, Chief 38B and Engine 38 responded.

At 13:53 Kirkwood was dispatched mutual aid to Five Mile Point to Fox Hollow Road on a working barn fire. Pumper Tanker 38 and Rescue 38 responded to the scene.

At 21:29 we were dispatched to 1883 NY Route 11 for a 1 car MVA with injuries. Chief 38A, Engine 38, Rescue 38 and EMS 38 responded to the call.

At 14:21 Kirkwood was dispatched to 1808 Conklin Road mutual aid to Conklin Fire for a smoke condition inside the residence. Pumper Tanker 38 responded and assisted with ventilating the residence.

At 00:34 Kirkwood was dispatched to Hall Street mutual aid to Great Bend for a chimney fire with extension. Pumper Tanker 38 responded to the scene.
